- Why would I want to pay an annual fee?
Many reasons! One night in a hotel would easily be more than the
annual fee. You will have the opportunity to meet interesting and
new friends. Membership for 2006 and 2007 is only $50.00.
- Expectations of a hostess would be what?
Guest would be offered a private room and full or continental breakfast.
Local information on restaurants and local events or attractions
could be given to guest. A short informative visit on arrival would
be good to acquaint you with each other, the home and the area.
- Expectations of a guest would be what?
Guests are to make arrangements to arrive in late afternoon or when
convenient for guest and hostess. Guests are to be away from the
home during the day. If hostess gives service such as touring the
area or supplying transportation, host should be compensated as
appropriate. Guest must always show membership card and pay for
stay upon arrival.
- How often should I expect to have guests?
This is up to hostess. Sometimes people are rarely called, sometimes
more often, depending on location being in tourist area or near
highway. You always have the option to decline a guest's visit.
- Is there a limit on number of nights a guest can stay?
Again, this is up to the hostess. Generally no more than three nights.
- Am I nuts to invite strangers into my home?
People who run a Bed and Breakfast business are open to the public.
Remember, you have a Directory telling about the hostess. You are
both dues paying members of the club. People are basically honest.
If you have a "funny feeling" at any time, feel free
to follow your instincts. You may both be hesitant in the beginning
and end up having a charming and fun visit.
- Can my husband be part of this?
As a common courtesy, notify the hostess you are asking to stay with
if this arrangement is okay with them. The Hostess has the option
to decline.
- Are husbands allowed to go on tours?
There will be tours for members only and also those open to guests.
- Are there hostesses in other countries?
Yes, you may stay with people in many other countries. However, the
majority of members are in the U.S. and Canada.
- What if my schedule won't allow me to fix breakfast some
day?
No problem. Just set the table and let guest know where breakfast
food is located.
- So how do I make a reservation?
You will receive a online directory ($15.00 more for a printed dicectory)
with emails, phone numbers and addresses. Contact hostess by phone
or email and if they are unavailable by phone or email, let them
know when you will try again.
- Are there references available for members I can contact
prior to joining?
Absolutely! Send us an email and we will give you information on
women members to contact. These are members who have agreed to share
guest and hostess adventures.
- Are all baths private?
See Directory for description of baths (private or shared). Also
listed are single or double beds and how many can be accommodated.
- Are there other opportunities you offer?
LOTS! There are tours and trips offered to members; some also open to
non-members. There is an online forum (click here
to go there) where members can post trips that they want to go on
and would like a traveling companion, (this is why the founder, Sue
started this club). Possibilities are enormous!
- When can I join?
As soon as your fee has been received and your card issued.
- How secure are the credit card transactions through the
Get Up and Go Gals site?
We do not store or retain credit card numbers. Credit card
transaction are performed totally encrypted so that the transaction
itself is secure.
- How secure is my membership information?
We make every precaution to protect our data base from any unwanted
intrusions. We do not sell or loan out the membership list. Any
member using the list for any reason other than stated in the membership
agreement will be terminated.
- How can I sign up without my credit card information online?
Print out the application (click here for
a printable application), fill it out and attach a check for the
proper amount payable to Get Up and Go Gals. Mail to Get Up and Go Gals
P.O. Box 1443 Florence, Oregon 97439. You will receive your membership
card and access code for the web site at your email address or in the
mail.
- Can I sign up and be a member if I am not online?
Yes, you can have a friend print out the web site information and application
and mail $65.00 to the above address and you will receive a printed
membership list updated every six months.
- How much do I pay to stay at a members home?
$15.00 for one person and $20.00 for two - $10.00 for each additional
person, payable to the host. Non-US hosts are $10.00 more. ($25
for one and $30.00 for two).
